It's basically animated dots positioned using nice math. A swarm of flying dots (fdots) is released into a dark field and left to find its own way out. Each token starts from a shape, a line, a circle, a sunburst, a single point, a rectangle, a triangle. Drawn solid for one frame before a flow field pulls it apart. Nothing is ever cleared, so what you see isn't the shape but the record of its dissolving, thousands of small bright marks piling up out of blackness. The line ends when the last fdot runs out of life. Color is swept across the swarm rather than assigned per fdot, so the ramp reads as a gradient through the composition.
