Lost Transmissions is a generative art project inspired by the cathode ray tube (CRT) screens invented by Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897. Lost Transmissions is a generative art project inspired by the cathode ray tube (CRT) screens invented by Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897. The project emulates the look and feel of a vintage CRT display, complete with a convex faceplate (outwardly bulged), which introduces characteristic distortions to the monochromatic artworks. Subtle details, such as uneven light reflections, mimic the appearance of washed-out areas on the screen. In rare instances, a defective R, G, or B channel may create unexpected cyan, magenta, or yellow hues, adding an element of unpredictability to the visuals. Each artwork features a combination of one of six implemented fonts - Runic, Mukta, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, or Operators - and minimalistic geometric shapes like rectangles and circles. These elements are thoughtfully arranged to produce cohesive and distinctive compositions. All code and metadata for Lost Transmissions are stored fully on-chain on the Ethereum (L1) blockchain. To eliminate external dependencies, each font was subsetted to 10 glyphs, encoded in base64, and directly embedded into the project’s code, ensuring a self-contained and enduring representation of the artwork.
