Spectrasonics, a one-of-a-kind project, aims to offer a certain vision of aesthetics while addressing some challenges we encounter in the NFT space, such as the immediacy of digital art and the all-too-frequent absence of soundscapes. It does this through a visual and auditory landscape. Spectrasonics is a multidisciplinary work that invites meditation and passive listening. Given its concept, the collection is offered under a CC0 license, allowing anyone to sample or resample what they hear and use or recycle it as they wish.

FULL STORY

"It’s the fire of the Crystal, the very one that appeared to me—I swear, I could have heard it. It was spectrasonic, and I was high." The fire of the Crystal is an infinitesimal moment, one that we cannot truly imagine, either in its nature or its sound. This is precisely what Spectrasonics seeks to reveal. Visual Landscape Grids are common, as is Perlin noise, and they’re intriguing tools to revisit. The background is in 3D, based on a fragment shader, to achieve a paper texture without reducing performance. In Spectrasonics, you will find a distorted and influenced grid representing a coherent set of terraces made up of parcels. The division of these parcels is achieved by selecting colors in the grid via fractal noise. The concept is to create a "sector" when the colors differ. The result is a moving composition with vanishing lines and an unmistakably bold design. The addition of subtle, almost imperceptible animation at first glance ensures that the viewer always has something new to discover, entering a near-hypnotic state. This infinite animation invites viewers to take the time to observe and absorb every detail for as long as they wish. Auditory Landscape Cinema and other audiovisual arts from the analog era often integrated soundscapes into the action, creating punctuation and enhancing the narrative. However, since the rise of digital arts—NFTs in particular—this practice has become increasingly rare, impoverishing the storytelling within a work. Is it the fault of the artists? Technical constraints? A passing trend? With Spectrasonics, you’ll find not only generative art but also a generative soundscape, based on the hash created during the piece's minting on the blockchain, playing infinitely on its own. The Spectrasonics soundscape evolves endlessly, drawing from a multitude of concepts inherited from generative music on analog synthesizers. Throughout my career as a sound engineer, I’ve always sought sensations born from sounds that couldn’t otherwise exist. The algorithm constructs a unique synthesizer with randomized parameters for modules such as: Sequence Waveforms Harmonics ADSR envelopes Number and type of LFOs Low-pass filter Delay and reverb The combination of these modules and the multitude of random parameters ensures both a uniform identity across the collection's soundscapes and a rich diversity. Most outputs are deliberately composed of almost musical tones—reminiscent of trumpet notes or strange electric pianos—to maintain cohesion. A small percentage, however, comes with a "drone mode," producing fully electronic sounds. Special thanks for developing the V2 smart contract in record time. @defbeef: For being an inspiration and one of the pioneers of sound on the blockchain. @audioglyphs: For helping me better understand technical approaches to sound production on Ethereum. To everyone supporting me daily in real life, especially my wife, and to all those helping make my art visible through social media. Spiral Tribe, Amon Tobin, Pink Floyd, Pierre Henry, Robert Moog, and many others—living and deceased—for inspiring me daily with their genius.
