Freeimp

My name is Alex (Freeimp) and I am a 23-year-old generative artist based in California. My primary career is in chemistry, where I work as a research scientist. My work primarily utilizes javascript and shaders to experiment with various abstract styles. Creating generative art has been my hobby for almost two years now, passionately fond of the order and beauty that comes with the art form.

STORY

As an artist, my story begins not too long ago...sparking from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was introduced to generative art and immediately fell in love. Coming from no coding background whatsoever, I was determined to understand how to create through this medium and develop this skill. I started learning how to use p5.js, studying various techniques of popular generative artists such as Ippsketch, William Mapan, and Ben Kovach. My journey began...although extremely challenging due to the learning curve, but incredibly rewarding. Releasing my first project on fxhash, it's as though the development of my skill could be seen through each project I released. I later began attempting to understand shaders, experimenting with various techniques to establish an additional layer of complexity to my work. This would begin to show in my more recent fxhash release 'Watercolor Studies'. I have also released 1/1 pieces on Foundation along with collaborations on other chains, such as Solana with the Playground DAO for my 'Under the Waves' series. As I continue on my journey, I am constantly learning and experimenting, refining my work with each project and exploring the capabilities of generative art.
