Normies can look grayscale but they radiate a colorful aura. NormieAura is a fully on chain p5js script that reveals the auras of some Normies that created by Src1n and Yigit Duman.

FULL STORY

NormieAura is part of my studies about cc0 arts. Different than my general approach of merging Sandscapes dynamics with the cc0 arts, this project works on color fields and dynamic animations because of the color palette of Normie collection. Since Sandscapes is highly depend on pixel color variety, a grayscale collection wouldnt be a good fit with that one. This led me think about the grayscale appearance of the Normies and drove me to create a version that we see the auras of these grayscale characters. Each output selects a Normie deterministically from the token hash. The script reads the Normie pixel data, removes the square background, and keeps only the visible figure at the center of the canvas. The Normie itself is not recolored, distorted, dissolved, flipped, or animated. It stays static as the anchor of the composition. The animation is generated from the silhouette of the selected Normie. After the figure is placed, the script builds a contour map around its outer edges. This contour map is used as the source field for the surrounding animation. Colored pixel blocks are then drawn outside the figure and animated according to their distance from the Normie’s edge. The result is a radiating field that follows the shape of the figure. The animation uses deterministic values from the token hash to define the selected Normie, color palette, block size, spiral thickness, motion speed, direction, and contour rhythm. These parameters create variation between tokens while keeping each output consistent for the same token input. The figure area is masked so the animated color field does not render inside the Normie body. The Normie remains a static grayscale object, while the surrounding field keeps moving through the p5.js draw loop for as long as the artwork is displayed. Project uses token-based deterministic randomness, pixel-level figure masking, contour-distance mapping, and frame-based animation. The main visual structure is the contrast between a fixed Normie figure and a continuously moving radiating pixel field generated from its outer form as its aura.
