The first Sandscapes release explored this idea through an autonomous simulation. Sand does not preserve an image by holding it still; it preserves it by letting it fall. The image becomes a temporary arrangement of matter, always moving toward collapse, then turning back into itself through an endless vertical cycle. Sandscapes cc0 Specials: The Memes by 6529 opened that system to another archive. The Memes became source material, not as static references, but as images dissolved into a live field of sand, bubbles, gravity, and recurrence. Sandscapes cc0 Specials: BOOA continues this path as a 1/1 work. At each render, the script randomly summons one BOOA from the full collection of 3,333 fully on-chain BOOA portraits on Shape. The selected BOOA image is fetched from its on-chain tokenURI, translated into colored sand, and released into the Sandscapes simulation. The particles fall, gather, pass the threshold, flip, and begin again. Nothing is fixed. The source is on-chain, but the appearance is never final. This edition is not a fixed portrait of one BOOA. It is a live portal into the BOOA archive. Every refresh can call another agent into the sand. If the BOOA source cannot be reached, the work does not stop. It enters fallback mode: “ALL BOOAS IN SLEEP / ENJOY THE FALLBACK.” Even failure becomes part of the landscape.
